I am Dead; the streetcars are dead; my Son is a criminal. I hope that one day I will find out the true reasons for Cals behavior prior to my untimely death. I hope in the meantime he will stand up and be the man of the house. He needs to take care of his mother and Peggy. One day I hope that they too will find out why Cal did what he did. I have always had a glimmer of hope that his criminal actions were not intended to break the law, rather they were for a greater purpose. I still cannot believe what they are doing to the marvelous streetcars of St.Paul. It is such a shame to see them go, and the era of the bus ushered in.

It has been a somber day. The transit company has officially given up all hope of saving the street cars and have finally begun the transition from streetcars to buses. All motormen have been offered positions as bus drivers, but I have no interest in support this company that has abandoned me. Cal is getting close to graduation and I hope that he successfully finishes high school. More importantly, I hope that he goes onto college. I was never able to finish any post secondary education, thus it makes Cals success even more important to me. I am jealous of everything that he has achieved in his life and at the same time I am proud. I wish that I could have done all of the activities that he does when I was his age, but that time has come and gone many times over.

Coming home from war is never easy. As I returned from World War II I knew that I was going to be a different man than when I went to war. I found more compassion for others; however, I also developed a way to hide my compassionate, gentle, caring side of myself. With a family now, I am disappointed that the war left me unable to really show my children that I care about them. Cal must think that I am a terrible father because I didn't talk to him while he was in Grand Marias with Uncle Emil. He must think that I am selfish for only caring about my job driving the streetcar, but it is all that I have to live for besides my family.

I hope that they can see my gentle, caring, and compassionate side this Christmas as I do a good deed by freeing McClusky's dog from its miserable home. It will be sent to a place where the people car and the love flows into that poor dog.

Today I lost my Job. It has been hard for me from the beginning to understand why these business men are destroying such a fine piece of infrastructure. The streetcar has been around forever and provides stable transportation for those in St.Paul. I am furious about the advent of the new GM buses. I refuse to drive one of these new GM buses!

McClusky's Dog has been really annoying me lately. I lost a whole night of sleep listening to that poor dog crying. I really don't want my children causing any trouble, but I need to do something about that dog. Later today, I am going to call the humane society and find that dog a home that will care, love, and feed him. At least he will have a good home before Christmas.
